Our Mission & Vision
To provide and facilitate access to justice for low-income individuals and marginalized communities through advocacy and civil legal services.
We want a legal system that is accessible, fair and community centered.

What We Do
The Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program (CCVLP) works to ensure everyone has access to justice, regardless of income. We provide free civil legal services to people in Clark County who might otherwise have to face the legal system alone. While people facing criminal charges have a constitutional right to an attorney, there is no guaranteed right to legal representation in most civil cases, even when the outcome could affect someone's housing, family, safety, or financial stability. For more than 35 years, volunteer attorneys have partnered with CCVLP to expand access to justice in our community.
Our staff attorneys and volunteer legal professionals provide legal advice, brief services, and representation in family law, housing justice, immigration, domestic violence, lay guardianship, and other civil legal matters. Together, they work alongside clients to protect their rights, navigate the legal system, and pursue lasting solutions.
We also recognize that access to justice is not equal for everyone. Systemic barriers continue to disproportionately affect people with low incomes, people with disabilities, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, LGBTQIA+ community members, and others who have historically been excluded from equitable access to the legal system. We are committed to reducing those barriers by providing high-quality legal services, sharing legal knowledge, and advocating for a more accessible and equitable civil justice system.
Why Your Donation Matters
No one should lose their home or face an eviction record simply because they don't know their rights. Access to legal representation gives tenants a stronger opportunity to reach fair outcomes, maintain housing stability, and move forward with confidence.
For survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, legal issues often continue long after the immediate crisis has passed. Legal advocacy can provide a path to safety by addressing matters like protection orders, parenting plans, housing, and immigration. While approximately 70% of low-income Washingtonians experience at least one civil legal issue each year, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault often face many interconnected legal challenges as they rebuild their lives.
Your gift expands access to justice by connecting people with the legal representation, advocacy, and information they need to protect their rights and move forward with confidence.
