Who we are

We are a non-profit organization providing trauma-informed, personalized support to foster children and caregivers in Southwest Washington—creating stability and security through meaningful connections and vital resources—and demonstrating real, positive change where it didn't exist before.

Our vision is that every child in foster care may experience permanency and belonging through tangible resources and meaningful connections with their community.

What we do

Our services span a range of support measures aimed at creating a comprehensive and holistic approach to improving the lives of Caregivers and children within the foster care system. We believe in a proactive and trauma-informed approach to care that begins the moment a child is brought into protective custody and remains a constant until the end of their journey with foster care. Fosterful is here for youth from the moment they are placed into a home to the moment they find permanency.

Caregiver Support Project: The Caregiver Support Project is designed to provide hands-on, personalized assistance to foster and kinship families right where they need it most: in their homes and community. We work alongside caregivers to create customized care plans, ensuring every child and family receives the right level of support.

Volunteer Programs: When children enter foster care, they often face long, uncertain waits in child welfare offices. Our Sidekick Program volunteers provide comfort and connection during this time - offering companionship, essential backpacks, and support for both youth and families. Through our free git closet, the Confetti Corner, we extend that care with brand-new items like toys, books, and gift cards-helping every child seen, supported and valued. 

Heart & Home Services: Foster families deserve more than just placement support—they need a strong foundation of resources, education, and community. We provide practical support, education, and community connection for foster families like: Empowering learning opportunities for caregivers and youth, community building through connective and supportive spaces, seasonal items that ensure every child receives essentials throughout the year, and hands-on help through home clean-ups and team-building projects.

Green House (Group Receiving Care): Far too many times we see siblings in foster care being split up and placed in separate homes from one another. Thanks to an incredible donation from the Ed & Dollie Lynch Foundation at The Community Foundation of Southwest Washington as well as an awarded state contract, Fosterful is opening a group receiving care home in Longview, Washington, for youth and their siblings to stay together through one of the most uncertain moments of their lives. This home will be called The Green House - a place built with care, purpose, and in honor of a beloved foster caregiver we lost too soon, Crystal Green. We will have 6 beds serving youth and their siblings from 0-17 who are entering foster care care and need a safe, stabilized, and therapeutic landing place while a longer-term home is identified, instead of waiting in an office or being placed in a temporary emergency setting. Our home will open towards the end of this year after renovations are complete.

Why we do this crucial work

Children navigating the foster care system often find themselves in a state of limbo, whether they're awaiting placement in a long-term home or being moved from one caregiver to another. This period of uncertainty can be incredibly daunting, perhaps one of the most unsettling times they'll ever face. That's why Fosterful is there every step of the way - from placement to permanency - ensuring that no child has to face this journey alone. With a caring adult, a nurturing environment, and access to basic necessities, children can experience moments of comfort, stability, and connection in the midst of transition.
