We match remarkable kids facing the greatest obstacles in our community with professional mentors who champion their dreams from kindergarten through high school graduation, no matter what. Our proven model has been unlocking potential and breaking the cycle of generational poverty for over 30 years.

The Power of Believing in Kids

Every child has unique talents, big dreams, and incredible resilience. The youth we serve have already shown extraordinary strength navigating life's complexities. They're ready to soar, they just need someone who believes in them consistently.

We exclusively focus on children who are facing systemic obstacles and who have lived through significant trauma. Our youth have experienced multiple adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) by the time they reach kindergarten. 

With a Friend by their side, there's no limit to what they can achieve.

Working with schools and community partners, we identify children ages 5 to 6 who could most benefit from a relationship with a Friend.

💪 We invest in professional mentors

We hire and train full-time paid professional mentors. Our Friends' full-time job is to empower and support youth and their caregivers.

School, home, community—our Friends spend time with youth every week building on strengths, celebrating wins, and opening doors to opportunity.

Data from Friends, youth, and caregivers help us continuously improve and do our best work. Ongoing third-party research and evaluation drive program innovation.
