When winter fades and spring begins, we’re reminded that growth takes time. For the youth we serve, it happens because someone shows up, again and again.

At Friends of the Children – SW Washington, we match children facing the greatest obstacles with full-time, paid professional mentors, called Friends. Our Friends show up on hard days, ordinary days, and every day in between, for 12+ years, from kindergarten through high school graduation, no matter what.

That consistency changes everything. When a child knows someone will be there next week, next month, and next year, they begin to believe in themselves and keep going.
