Our mission: We enrich lives in the Pacific Northwest and beyond through world-class symphonic concerts, other musical performances, and engaging educational programming.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the City of Vancouver, presents the annual Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival in Esther Short Park. In 2025, the festival welcomed 55,000 people to downtown Vancouver to enjoy visual and performing arts, and featured three nights of culminating performances by the VSO featuring world-class guest artists and conductors.

In 1972 a small group of dedicated local musicians met to perform pieces they loved. This group evolved to become Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, which marks its 47th season in 2025-2026. The VSO is the largest performing arts organization in Southwest Washington, and serves as a leader in the cultural and performing arts community.

The VSO presents more than forty highly anticipated events annually, including classical symphonic and chamber concerts, a silent film series, educational performances in Vancouver-area schools and senior living communities, and co-partners with the City of Vancouver to present the annual Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival.

Maestro Salvador Brotons, music director and conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra

Due to its rapid artistic development, the VSO has made tremendous growth in becoming one of the Northwest’s premiere performing arts organizations. With its growing reputation of artistic excellence and acclaimed stature of its music director, Maestro Salvador Brotons, the VSO has attracted some of the world’s most sought-after soloists including Orli Shaham, Anne Akiko Meyers, David Shifrin, Olga Kern, Renee Fleming and more to perform with the orchestra.

In addition to providing world-renowned symphonic, chamber, pops, and jazz performances with internationally acclaimed guest artists, the VSO has become a cornerstone of music education in the community. The VSO presents concerts and ensemble performances for students in Vancouver-area schools, as well as visits to area senior living communities. In 2025, the VSO introduced the Vancouver Youth Virtuosi, USA, comprised of 54 student musicians from 11 Southwest Washington high schools.

As a leader in the performing arts space, the VSO works to bring cultural vibrancy to our region, enhancing the economic and social well-being of our community by uniting area residents through music. We thank our generous donors for their partnership to enhance the community through music.
