The Washougal Schools Foundation was formed in 2002 by a volunteer group of parents, business people, and concerned citizens to create a charitable organization capable of supporting efforts to enhance the quality of public education in Washougal. Through the process of granting funds for projects that fall outside of a typical district budget, the Foundation has become an incubator for ideas to improve learning in the classroom. Each grant helps to prove the effectiveness of a concept and support the creativity of our most effective educators.

The Foundation was established on the recognition that the strength of a community is derived from its collective wisdom, and the values of sharing, understanding and compassion. It was structured  as an endowment to make a lasting impact on students and teachers within our public school system.

Through thoughtful processes and a stedfast dedication to the original vision, the Foundation has earned the trust of the community, as evidenced by gifts from the estates of leaders like Norm Danielson, Joyce Cox, and Roger Daniels. Others have chosen to establish the WSF in their will. These gifts, along with donations from local businesses and community members have grown the endowment to become a more sustainable resource.

Today, we are working to reach the 1 million mark to make the Foundation more likely to receive grants, further increasing sustainability and extending the impact of public education on the future leaders of Washougal.
