Help Build the Future of Learning at the Washington School for the Deaf!

100% of Donations Support the New STEAM Lab!

D.E.A.F. is thrilled to partner with the Washington School for the Deaf (WSD) to create a cutting-edge STEAM Lab, and we need your help to make it happen! Every donation made during this year’s GiveBIG campaign will go directly to providing essential technology equipment for the lab, empowering students to explore and innovate in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).

What’s in Store for the Students? In this amazing new space, students will:

  • Design and build their own computers
  • Program robots and compete in esports & robotics competitions
  • Engage in coding (from blocks to Python!)
  • Dive into 3D printing and drone technology
  • Experience Virtual Reality field trips
  • Create incredible videos documenting their innovative projects
  • And much more!

The lab will offer hands-on, real-world learning opportunities that foster creativity, teamwork, and collaboration between deaf and hearing students alike.

Let’s make a difference together. Thank you for your incredible support! Help Build the Future of Learning at the Washington School for the Deaf.

Our Goal: $10,000

We're aiming to raise $10,000 for state-of-the-art equipment that will power this groundbreaking initiative. Every donation makes a difference. Whether it’s $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200, your contribution will directly provide the necessary tech equipment. And if you’re able to give a bit more, larger donations are incredibly impactful and truly appreciated. Your support will help us make sure the STEAM Lab has everything it needs to succeed!

About Us

Deaf Education Advocates Foundation (D.E.A.F.) is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization created in 1989 for the purpose of raising funds necessary to improve and enrich the education of students at the Washington School for the Deaf (WSD).  The donations received have made it possible to fund activities, services, equipment, and experiences that might not be possible through WSD funding alone.  All donations go directly to our on-going projects such as financial support for academic, athletic, residential or community events, scholarships, Special Olympics, artist-in-residence programs and mini-grant awards to staff and students. In the past, D.E.A.F. has provided support for Deaf Academic Bowls, Math Team tournaments, Book Club materials, Youth Leadership camps, Cheer Leading camps, Western States Basketball tournaments, renovations for the concessions stand at the athletic field and many workshops and trainings.  For the students who live in the residential cottages, D.E.A.F. has provided funds for educational materials, books, toys and games, outdoor play equipment and arts and crafts materials.
