Our school evolved from the vision of Jackie Taylor, an educator with over 20 years experience teaching in progressive education. Jackie’s degrees in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and a Master’s in Teacher Leadership, coupled with her vast experience in the classroom and service in administrative roles, prepared and led her to build something unique.
Jackie’s deep connection to colleagues, students and their families forged a community that is passionate about education and eager to support a new school of thought. Dedicated parents and experienced educators worked together to design an innovative school that engages its students through rich experiences, meaningful projects and community involvement. Here are our core values:
- We believe experiential education (including project-based learning, place-based learning, and outdoor education) is the optimal method for learning.
- We believe our school is a place to strengthen social-emotional character.
- We believe reflection on an experience is as important as the experience itself.
- We believe that academic achievement is optimized by using a thoughtful balance of in-depth interdisciplinary thematic experiences and individual units of study, with breaks between learning cycles.
- We believe taking risks in a safe environment is an essential component of lifelong learning.
- We believe that by instilling a deep connection to the natural world and human communities, we will inspire living and learning through responsibility and sustainability.
- We believe in the richness and power of an inclusive, transparent, and diverse community, where every voice matters.
Two years ago, in just our 5th year of being a school, Lupine had a chance to purchase a former school campus. It was an opportunity that required rapid action and one that we simply could not let slip away!
Our school had saved half of the funds needed for the downpayment. With the help of several dedicated families willing to invest in Lupine, we were able to purchase the property, move in, and grow our community. We now have a home of our own, a dedicated and stable teaching staff and a wonderful group of students and families.
We are now determined to repay our investors and become sole owners of the property. To help us achieve this goal, we launched our Capital Campaign last spring. Please consider supporting our goal of raising $10,000 during this year's Give More 24 event!
