For Our Tūtū!

Welina me ke aloha!

We are the Holt Braddahs: Kaloku (9), Kalaiʻākea (6) & Kalamakū (3), and we are participating in the Give More 24! fundraiser so that our Tūtū’s work can continue to support keiki and ʻohana, just like us!

Our ʻohana is lucky to have made our way back home to Hawaiʻi, where we now get to attend Hawaiian immersion school. But there was a time when our mommy didn’t know if she would ever get to raise her keiki in Hawaiʻi.

Just like Tūtū did before them, our Mom and Dad did everything they could to make sure we grew up surrounded by our culture, even while we were away from home.

Today we live in Hawaiʻi, but we are still growing up as part of our Kukui ʻohana in the Pacific Northwest, the community our Tūtū helped build and our mom and dad continue to care for today.

We grow up surrounded by aunties, uncles, kumu, and friends who aloha us in both places. We have learned hula, mele, hana noʻeau, and ʻōlelo in both places. We get to be Hawaiian in both places. ✊

Our Tūtū isn’t here to see us grow up, but we think she would be happy to see us continuing to share her aloha with the keiki and ʻohana who don’t get to be home in Hawaiʻi.

That’s what we’re fundraising for: so Hawaiian keiki and families living away from home can have a place to learn, gather, practice our culture, and be together.

We have ʻohana in both places. We get to learn about where we come from. And we get to be part of carrying something she started into another generation.

Please help us keep Tūtū’s light going so other keiki can grow up surrounded by culture, community, and aloha too. 💛
