Help Downtown Longview Bloom

The Downtowners aims to add holiday potted flowers in the winter, and add more updated potted plants and hanging baskets in spring 2026.

Since some flower pots have been damaged this summer, the goal is to buy and fill larger pots that people will not be able to move and destroy.

This year, the Downtowners formed a local America in Bloom program, a nationwide beautification program that uses flowers, plants, trees, and more to create clean, inviting areas. 

Nearly 50 volunteers planted 24 planters with over 200 plants starting in May 2025. Kids from the local youth shelter Beth's Place help maintain the blooms, while learning about gardening. 

Now, the Downtowners is preparing to refresh planters seasonally and grow the flowers each year.

We are also continuing our long-running efforts to hang flower baskets along Commerce Avenue every spring. The Downtowners purchase the flowers from Castle Rock FFA and the city of Longview hangs and maintains the baskets.
